Description of the institution: ARMINES operates within the framework of the law of 18 April 2006 which allows public sector higher education or research establishments to entrust private-sector organisations with their contractual research activities. ARMINES is bound by French government-approved agreements to its partner schools, chief amongst them being MINES ParisTech and the Ecoles des Mines network under the supervision of the French Ministry for Productive Recovery: Albi-Carmaux, Alès, Douai, Nantes and Saint-Etienne. ARMINES collaborates with laboratories at Polytechnique ParisTech, ENSTA ParisTech, The Ecole Navale and the Ecole des Ponts ParisTech. With total turnover of more than €47 m and a surplus of € 149 K, ARMINES has held on to the top spot amongst the private contract research institutions affiliated to higher education establishments.
Description of the group: the TASC group (http://www.inria.fr/equipes/tasc) is a CNRS/INRIA team composed of 10 faculty members with focus on CP and on describing explicitly various aspects of constraints (see global constraint catalog, http://www.emn.fr/z-info/sdemasse/aux/doc/catalog1.pdf), on both discrete (see Choco, http://www.emn.fr/z-info/choco-solver/) and continuous solvers (see Ibex, http://www.emn.fr/z-info/ibex/), and more recently on extracting constraints from data.
